Another reason I’m a dork…

As if obsession with Battlestar Galactica, hair that prefers a Farrah Fawcett ‘do (I’ve always said I was born in the wrong decade!), and a propensity to dwell on the tiniest details of my children’s poo weren’t enough, I am here to give you another reason to call me “DORK!”

You see, two nights ago, I realized that we had exactly three weeks until we close on our house and then proceeded, on a rare night when Lily thought sleeping more than 2 hours at a stretch seemed like a fine idea, to stay up all night in an insomniac stress session over emails unsent, appliances unresearched, and landscape plans incomplete (not to mention millions of dollars unearned). Last night, with the help of a little Calms Forte from my long-time best friend Mr Hyland, I was able to get some rest, but I have to admit that my excitement for the move is reaching a fever pitch.

Now we’ve passed “three weeks until closing” and are at “three weeks until move-in.” They’ve been finishing the wood floors this week and they painted the exterior of house next-door, so ours can’t be far behind. Really the only thing left to do is the exterior paint and the carpet. I’ve turned in our 30-day notice at the apartment and we’re at the point of starting to schedule our DSL & phone service hook-ups.

According to our builder, our dream house will be completed on Friday the 31st. That gives us 10 days for scratch & dent type repairs…Woo hoo!!! Yes, I’m a dork.

OK, what did you do the night before you moved to Windsor? How come a mother is the last to know? Just remember this when Gabriel and Lily are grown! Mom

How exciting! I doubt I would be able to sleep either, and I would be going through everything as well that needed to be done.

Try to relax and enjoy this time- as you know, with a house it seems like there is *always* something that needs to be done, you don’t have to get everything done right away- you’ll get to it when you can, and in the meantime enjoy this exciting time. :-)

Although you are, and have always been, an enourmous dork, your dorkdom has nothing to do with your fervor about this move!!! Just promise that the night before you move you won’t do what you did the night before you moved to Windsor!!

You are a very “normal” dork! Everybody waiting to enter their first newly-built home goes through these things and acts the same way.

You’re not a dork!! I don’t know how you _could_ sleep with all that excitement and stress! I doubt I could!
