I am typing my very first post from my new toy: a Mac Book!!! My old Windoze laptop has started making the grinding noises that tell me that my second hard-drive is about to die and I just decided I didn’t need to buy yet another slow, buggy, high-maintenance Microsoft product. So here I am. Between Wimbledon, Harry Potter, & my Mac Book, I could hide out in my house for weeks, but have so far refrained from plopping the kids down in front of the television so that I can play.
A few things that I liked immediately about my Mac Book:
- It’s so light! My old laptop was a heavy beast…
- The keyboard is quiet, unlike the wireless I have for my desktop system. No more waking the children or annoying Matt with my loud typing.
- The speakers in this tiny laptop are better than the full-sized ones we have for our tower system, so I can listen to streaming radio anywhere now.
- It took me literally minutes to set up my preferences, configure email, etc. Of course, downloading software will take some time, but I was up and running in no time, as all the quirky ads promise.
- It’s not Microsoft
That may be the sweetest bit…
More later as I come up with the best tools for doing web development in this new environment (I am, of course, open to suggestions…).
