1. Wash and cut a bunch of asparagus and arrange on a cookie sheet while the broiler preheats.
2. Drizzle asparagus with olive oil, season with salt &Â pepper, and place under broiler.
3. Proceed to completely forget about asparagus, either by going to attend to your children or talking to your husband about impending move until you see smoke coming from the oven.
4. Open oven door. If flames do not leap out at you, threatening to singe your eyebrows, close the door and repeat step 3.
5. Turn oven off. Have husband remove battery from smoke detector.
6. Wait a few minutes for flames to die down, then pull the asparagus out of the oven–they’re ready to season & serve!
**This really happened to us last night when the oil from the asparagus popped up onto the broiler element and ignited. We really did go ahead and eat them, and they were delicious! Only the oil burned, not the asparagus! But please, don’t really try this at home, as the flames that jump out of the oven are a little frigthening!

yikes! glad the only thing that burned was the oil and you still got to enjoy the asparagus (and your house is still in one piece).

You are not right! ; )
Okay – it does sound very good. Did the little people learn any new words as a result of this particular venture into the world of culinary delights?

Sounds delicious but slightly terrifying!
